Architecture in India

The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) is a Bachelor's degree designed to satisfy the academic requirement of practicing architecture. In India, B.arch is minimum requirement to practice architecture.

The Council of Architecture (COA) is a body corporate by the Government of India under the provisions of the Architects Act, 1972, enacted by the Parliament of India. The Act provides for registration of Architects, standards of education, recognized qualifications and standards of practice to be complied with by the practicing architects. The Council of Architecture is charged with the responsibility to regulate the education and practice of profession throughout India besides maintaining the register of architects.

Bachelor of Architecture Eligibility

The duration of the course is 5 years and to get admission into B.Arch. the student must be fulfilled the following conditions:

  • 10+2 or equivalent with minimum 50% marks from PCM (Physics-Chemistry-Maths) stream. OR

  • 10th + 3 year’s diploma in any stream from a recognized university/ board/ institution.

  • Cleared NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) with the 80% marks conducted by Council of Architecture OR secured a good rank in Jee Main paper 2 conducted by National Testing Agency.
